I decorated a cake!

So, I got a job at the Bakery on Main. It is great. This is a practice cake I decorated. A week later I did the writing and doodling on a cake for a customer, but I didn't get any pictures.

This cake was fantastic but I still took lots of pictures. I really like the colors.

After:

Decorated and Demolished.

Mohawk Hat

I made a mohawk hat for a relative of mine. I might start making a few more to sell at the Kentucky Market Pavillion and maybe Etsy. But I'm pleased with the way it turned out. This is my dad modelling it.

Works in Progress

That kitty needs some limbs!

That hat needs a tail!

That scarf needs ... more scarf.

Two new hats and a pair of slippers

This blue and pink hat is made from yarn from Ginger's left over stash. It works with either side out.

A cuddly oatmeal hat made from Michael's Christmas stash yarn.

And a nice pair of ruby(ish) slippers. Also made from the same kind of yarn the oatmeal hat was made from. I like it a lot... it is super cuddly. Let's see it is Loops 'n' Threads' Country Loom.

Yarn Galore

I got a 25 dollar gift card to Michael's and the day after Christmas they had big yarn sales. So guess where I was. Some of this yarn I got as presents but I bought a lot of it all for $25! Mitzy is enjoying my yarn with me.

New Year's List

Last year I did not make a New Year's List of Goals. I suppose technically I had a resolution, it was an adjective. Awesome. I just wanted to make the year awesome, be awesome, do awesome, etc. That worked out really well for the beginning part of the year then I think I forgot that was a goal, I also had a few rough spots. But I graduated from college in 2011 and that is pretty awesome. I made some awesome things. I wish I had just kept in mind my adjective more. So this year I resolve to do that for my new adjectives. Yeah, that's right two adjectives this time.
Classy
Independent
I don't really want to go to much into depth with what that means to me. But I will say classy doesn't mean anything material, it does mean attitude. I want to try to make myself believe I am a classy person.
I also want to make myself believe I am independent. This doesn't mean I need to be alone all the time. But I want to be more comfortable with myself and being alone with myself. I think being alone however doesn't really include me sitting in front of my computer. So those are my personal adjectives that I want to internalize.
I also have a list of things I want to spend time doing.

  • I would like to spend time meditating or doing yoga as a way to develop self-knowledge and become comfortable with me.
  • I want to dumpster dive more. Or in general be more resourceful.
  • I want to do more with my days
  • I want to make more friends.
I think that about covers it. I mean I have other like project goals, finish issue one of the IPH, sell something on etsy, sell paintings, blah blah, but those aren't my New Year's goals.

I'd love to hear what your goals are.

Videos of my animals

For your enjoyment here's a video of a little dog that was given to my family. She is the absolute sweetest pup. She is finicky though, she doesn't like getting her feet wet or cold. So we got her boots. She also loves to wear sweaters and sit directly in front of the heater. Like on top of it.

She loved Reece so much and he was so scared of her. Their relationship was adorable. In this video he has to scratch but it scared to move his leg and then when he finally does she gets a little smashed.

Hats, Hats, Hats

Here's a few of the hats I've made this month for commission. I've had to model a couple of them because the customer was not around for me to snap a shot.

I really like this design and plan on continuing to improve it. It has it all, really, it is a scarf, a hood, and a sleepy hat. Complete with tassels and pom pom! There is so much going on! I tried to incorporate my customer's favorite colors: red, purple, and yellow.

My boyfriend's brother requested a Dodgers slouchy hat. This was my first attempt at knitting letters and I think I've got a few things figured out for whenever I have a go at it next.

This is just a plain, ole, regular ole, beanie. I LOVE the yarn I used for this, Caron's Simply Soft is just what it says, a basic yarn for a variety of projects but also extremely soft.

Celestial Treasury

I really like the idea of making a new list every week. Be it a treasury on etsy, a list of books I like, other blogs I read or as my boyfriend suggested, top ten favorite hat styles. So for now let Tuesday be new list day! This should be an easy day because I love lists, there are half-crossed-out to-do lists all over my house.

So, this week's list is a treasury I created on etsy of all things Celestial, click to see all the items and their makers!

My friend Jessie Yost from jess2bead created a treasury designed to help Stay warm and look bright! and very cute. She included a sleepy elf hat so I felt like I should share it with all of you. Enjoy the colorful cozies!

Lemon tree and p.s. from last post

This is my early Christmas present, a Dwarf Meyer Lemon. It has little baby lemons growing and a few flowers and buds! So adorable and exciting!

p.s. I won't have to deal with winter winds because I can totally ninja wrap this cowl into awesomeness.

New Knit

So I made some kind of cowl/hood thing out of some leftover baby blanket yarn I had, I wish I could have made it longer but I ran out of yarn. I just used the basic garter stitch and it was relaxing to not have to purl at all, to not count stitches, to just knit knit knit.

Mustache.

I need to weave in the ends.

Shrug thing.

I decided on the name Mitzy.

Old Washington

Today I went to Old Washington, past Maysville, for their winter craft fair. Ginger and I shared a booth and here's our set up.

I couldn't get a good set-up in such little space. Tomorrow should be easier to set up.

This is Ginger's part of the booth. It is well organized and she has beautiful stuff.

I made little bags filled with rice and you can just throw them in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute and they stay warm for an hour. The tiny matching ones are hand warmers, like hot hands you throw them in your pockets but these are reusable.

Keychains on some twigs.

One awesome thing that came out of this fair is that I was given a kitten that has already had it's shots and has been spayed. She looks like my roommate's cat, Baalthazaar but tiny and sweeter.

Baalthazaar is creepin'.

I'm trying to think of good names. Here's a possible list Jac and I have come up with.

Muffin
Bug
Mitzy
Basil
Mouse
Moose
Lila
Lilith
Kitty
Ally

There were more. Do you have any cute names? Or want to vote on one of these?
